Description 

In September 2016, the Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports Program lost a very special person. Marion Creech was a star role model for youth across Kentucky. His knowledge, coupled with his patience, made him an amazing teacher, mentor and friend to youth and volunteers alike. Marion always displayed positivity and would cheer anyone on, even if it wasn’t their day. There was hardly a time when you did not see a smile on his face. As one of the original founders of the Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports program, and the state coordinator for 28 years, this was more than a 4-H program to Marion, everyone involved was his family.

Marion did everything with one goal in mind. “make the best better” for our youth and help prepare them to be responsible and caring leaders in our communities. To honor his dedication to the Shooting Sports program the Kentucky Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Board established the Marion Creech Memorial Scholarship Fund in his memory. This fund provides assistance to one (1) graduating senior each year who has been active in the Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports Program and whose life has demonstrated the positive qualities that Marion exhibited throughout his life.

Scholarship Details

  • Must be a graduating senior who has been active in the Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports Program to apply.
  • One (1), non-refundable, $1,000 scholarship awarded annually.
  • Funds may be used for any post-secondary institution/technical school, not limited to KY and may be spent on anything related to higher education expenses (tuition, books, housing, etc.).
  • The scholarship winner will be selected in July of each year.
  • Funds are made payable to the recipient and will be dispersed in August of each year.

Completed applications must be submitted, via the provided Qualtrics Link, to Ashley Marcum by June 6th
