Description
Kentucky 4-H believes that all youth should have opportunities for positive youth development in our four guiding concepts: mastery, belonging, independence, and generosity. Shooting Sports Camp is a coed camp open to all Kentucky youth 9 to 13 years of age as of their 4-H age (age as of Jan. 1st of the current year). Camp is held at the Lake Cumberland 4-H Camp in Jabez, KY.
Youth will have the opportunity to learn about and shoot in all shooting sports disciplines including, rifle, shotgun, archery, pistol, black powder and hunter challenge. Campers will learn responsible and safe firearm handling from certified adult and teen instructors. Additional program highlights for the week include campfires, survival skills, nature crafts, heritage foods, and more! Youth who have not previously been through the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Hunter Education Program and received their orange card will have the opportunity to complete this training at camp.

Shooting Sports Camp is typically scheduled for early April and is a 4 day, 3 night camp. Youth are supervised at all times by adult and teen chaperones with a 1:5 adult to camper ratio. Camp fees cover lodging, meals, daily snacks, and programming needs for each attendee. Contact your county extension office for information regarding deadlines and fees (link)
